An inspirational lyric from my new single “The Healing.” When you are present in the moment, circumstance there’s so much to gain and absorb. I say this a lot at my concerts – don’t miss the moment by looking into your phone. In watching the blockbuster Michael Jordan documentary “The Last Dance” one of the takeaways in the Episode 9 was how Jordan was nearly obsessive about being in the moment, being present. “Why worry about a shot I haven’t taken yet or one I missed..”

With everything going on with the current pandemic and lives, business being turned upside down – all we can do is be present not lament on how life used to be or how it’s going to be when this is behind us. Make the best of now.

As the days and weeks continue to blur one day into the next, we all deal with this in our own way. All we have is now – it’s where we are. With frustrations rising in some, hopefully irrational behavior won’t take over common sense. Never lose hope even when you feel overwhelmed and helpless – and please don’t get reckless.

Stay home, healthy and safe. Visualize the light at the end of the tunnel – visualize the stars in a dark sky.

New Year and Sweating It Out Wellness.

After sweat therapy today.

 

One of the things I enjoy and haven’t done for a while is going to sweat relaxation. The funny thing is in general I don’t like being too hot but I was curious about this infrared sauna and heat therapy. Benefits include good for skin, weight loss, cardiovascular health, stress release, lowering blood pressure, boost metabolism.. improve sleep. The liver naturally detoxifies our bodies however, sweat does also detoxify the body and mind as well.

Via Shapehouse (not a paid endorsement): “People have used sweat rituals around the world for thousands of years to garner greater physical, mental, and spiritual well being, and sweating continues to be a widely used meditative aid.”

Infrared heat sweat therapy is very relaxing, once you get past feeling like a baked potato (if you’re doing the blanket technology method)! I don’t watch TV or anything when I go it’s all nature sounds and dim lights. There are infrared saunas and pods available now as well as various types of sweat spas. It’s not for everyone and maybe a long hot steam shower will do – the point in the moment is to unplug – breath in, breath out. Release and relax, rejuvenate.

Try something new this year, treat yourself to a massage from time to time  – you owe it to yourself and your well being.

Meatless Monday and Wattage Inspirations.

What’s on your Meatless Monday menu? There are so many options to keep you full, hydrated and replenished. To give you an idea for me today it lots of water (every day add lemon, fresh cucumber if you need a bit of flavor – with no sugar).   Breakfast it was oatmeal with fresh blueberries, banana – and of course I have to have my coffee now having it with a plant based ‘creamer’ – and no sugar which I gave up a while ago. My snack is almonds – main meal is black beans, kale salad with avocado, carrots and red cabbage. My dressing is home made – olive oil, crushed garlic, lime juice, apple cider vinegar, chopped cilantro. I hope you’re all trying it out – find what works for you.

 

Here’s a mini shoulder roll – do these each day anytime you need to release stress, tension or in general just need a moment to rejuvenate.
