I’d changed clothes after performing my first solo #1 single “Looking For A New Love” to perform “Still a Thrill.” I loved that funky top hat which I’d purchased in Japan – my style always represents what I’m feeling. I still rock denim and ankle boots but wear them differently..the bra tops, not so much!

The UK is really bringing the love for “Nightlife” featuring Gerald Brown on backing vocals as the single goes into a highly competitive Pop Top Ten at #6, after peaking in the Top 5 Urban on Music Week Charts. I’m thrilled!!
On Billboard we continue to gain during this jammed packed 4th quarter that always brings a surge of activity for major labels and artists worldwide. That said, we move from #40  to  #31 on the Hot Dance Club Play Charts. It’s In The Music!

Jody Watley Nightlife Vaults Into The Top Ten. UK
Choosing to release “Nightlife”  featuring Gerald “Take That To The Bank” Brown, another Shalamar original to the UK first has turned out to be a great idea for my company Avitone. Check out this chart list from industry magazine Music Week – and you’ll find one multiple decades long artist, songwriter producer amongst them – Jody Watley! 70’s, 80,s, 90′,s 00’s, 10’s. Notably, I’m also the only independent self released artist of the list – no major label support.
“Nightlife“also moves to #21 Pop on Music Week and #3 Breakout single on Billboard in this weeks chart. Charts are always published a week after labels get the information.
Filming new scenes for the video on November 30. Extra fab just in time for the holiday season and a glamorous way to round out 2013! It’s In The Music!Â

Nightlife To Make Breakout Status on Billboard Dance Chart
“Nightlife” comes in at #3 Â “Breakout” Single on Billboard Magazine’s Hot Dance Club Play (chart publish date November 30, 2013). This is exciting news. What it means is that the single will make the full chart soon as it continues to garner support by DJ’s around the country – and keep the club kids twirling and fabulous on dance floors.
In the UK – expect a big leap on the Pop charts where the single debuted at #40 and another jump into the Top 5 Urban! More details to come. Thank you for continuing to spread the word and support the single. “It’s In The Music!”
