Jody Watley Nightlife Vaults Into The Top Ten. UK

Choosing to release “Nightlife” Β featuring Gerald “Take That To The Bank” Brown, another Shalamar originalΒ to the UK first has turned out to be a great idea for my company Avitone. Check out this chart list from industry magazine Music Week – and you’ll find one multiple decades long artist, songwriter producer amongst them – Jody Watley! 70’s, 80,s, 90′,s 00’s, 10’s. Notably, I’m also the only independent self released artist of the list – no major label support.

Nightlife“also moves to #21 Pop on Music Week and #3 Breakout single on Billboard in this weeks chart. Charts are always published a week after labels get the information.

Filming new scenes for the video on November 30. Extra fab just in time for the holiday season and a glamorous way to round out 2013! It’s In The Music!Β

Jody Watley Into The Top 20 In Great Britain

Just a look over the names on the Music Week chart and you’ll see a list heavily represented by Hip-Hop and youth. Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke w Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, to Drake, Iggy Izalea featuring T.I., to Jason Derulo featuring Β 2Chainz..Rick Ross.. The fact that I’ve been an artist for decades still contemporary and on this journey holding my own and always it seems against the odds – isn’t lost on me. Add to the mix the fact that “Nightlife” is classic disco with a modern electro twist and nothing like anything in the Top 30. I’m grateful not for the destination but the journey and small miracles each day – including this one! It really is ‘in the music.’
