Jody Watley -Spring Inspirations. Sanctuary Updated Cover Art and Release Date.

Jody Watley Sanctuary Fuchsia 4 Final

Jody Watley “Sanctuary” written by Jody Watley and Rodney Lee. Cover and Graphic Design: Ray Easmon. Photography: Albert Sanchez

Dream. Believe. Do. Repeat..and don’t over think. Make it happen for yourself in life – live it! Create your environment of love.

The fabulous Ray Easmon from the United Kingdom was inspired by the blooms of Cherry Blossoms while he’s been in Asia. I mentioned it would be nice to add an infusion of color to the art and when he sent the updated ideas, this one won me over right away. It’s so beautiful, we may do a limited quantity of 7″ vinyl for collectors..stay tuned. As well, as soon as the Pre-order link is viewable in iTunes / Apple Music. it will be posted as well.

“Sanctuary” EP is now scheduled for an  April 10 release and will include the original single version which has live bass and guitar as well the extended SoulPersona Raregrooves 12″ Remix and the accompanying instrumental.

The release is even more timely with all of the chaos and stress as a result of election results especially in America. The song serves as a reminder when life feels out of balance, overwhelming, one of the things we can control is our home environments.

Jody Watley. Sanctuary.

One of my favorites of the many songs I’ve written and recorded – and this collaboration with Soulpersona out of the UK (aka Morgan Howell). This is a timely, real and comforting song in often troubled times. As I say when performing it live..your space, your vibe – sanctuary is our home. Take those same vibes into the world..an environment of love and when you close the door..a safe place..for you, your significant others, family, children and so on.

I’ll be releasing this long version as a single – the short edit is available on my “Paradise” EP which is available at digital outlets worldwide. It’s a new era since this millennium (always surprised by those who are still waiting on the old model of the industry – it’s not coming back..)  and you don’t have to wait for commercial radio to make you aware of and/or quality  new music and video. Support independent music and artists. No rants, no controversy, no public romances to exploit ..just quality music.

I’ve been inspired to do a video for it..stay tuned!

Paradise Makes The Hot 16 on Soulbounce

JodyWatley_Paradise_EP_CD_CoverArt

What a delight it was to find out PARADISE made the Hot 16 List on Soulbounce amongst an eclectic list of young and emerging talent – that is quite fabulous for a vet like me. To remain fresh and true to myself always keeps my soul rooted in my work. I always hope my efforts and collaborations resonate with audiences large, small and diverse as well as the young without pandering and the young and heart. It’s in the music!

Paradise Reviewed on The QHBlend Where Music Lives.

JodyWatley_Paradise_EP_CD_CoverArt

In the past, an artist would send out tons of copies of promotional discs to have their album reviewed. We have not done that. This collection is all about the love, the word of mouth, the appreciators of artistry, the fans – it’s in the music! The QHBlend is one of my favorite music blogs with Quentin Harrison always shining as a true music writer who knows his subjects objectively really examining and listening to the music and covering those elements. Quentin understands music pop culture, artistic growth and never holding commercial peaks and valleys against or for his subjects – as it should be. Read his observations about “PARADISE”: Here

Soulpersona Previews Sanctuary from Jody Watley Forthcoming Paradise.

Happy Summer – Summer Solstice! Previewing ‘Sanctuary’ is the perfect way to begin summer. Have a listen to the Soulpersona Raregrooves Remix of the “Sanctuary” promo – from the forthcoming “PARADISE” EP. I wrote this with longtime collaborator Rodney Lee who is also my band musical director and keyboardist since 1993. “Sanctuary” through my live concerts is always met with a fantastic reception. We premiered this version recently at Yoshi’s Oakland to rapturous applause.

Having written and recorded a LOT of songs..this is one of my favorites and a special one to me..I hope it brings some good vibes and a reminder of the environment we create for ourselves and our children – and no matter rich or not rich, a home should always be a sanctuary and a safe place once from the world.

“Leave the world behind – as you close the door, an environment of love – a safe place to fall..let’s fill these walls with happy times, and fill these rooms with peace of mind – sanctuary is my home.”

Of course, my diehard fans have already supported the single “Nightlife”, fallen in love with the various video’s including the Dave Doyle Remix, watch:  Here

However working outside of the mainstream means it’s a constant process of educating the fair weathered, those who have lost touch with me because they only look to the mainstream, and as well a younger eclectic fan base who may like the music just because it’s good and not based on my past.   So I’ll keep posting, and encouraging you to help spread the word, after all as I wrote for “Nightlife” – it’s in the music!

Pick up the original Count De Money mix, Moto Blanco, Jodie Harsh, Dave Doyle, Soulpersona Disco Mix, Soulpersona Classic Soul Mix, or Luminodisco mix. All are available at iTunes, Amazon, Beaport and various digital outlets globally. 12″ vinyl of the original mix extended versions are also available at my online boutique. If you missed it “Nightlife” was Top 20 (#18) Hot Billboard Dance Club Play, and #5 Urban and #6 Commerical Pop on Music Week in the UK for those who are chart watchers, again – it’s really about quality music and artistic evolution, always moving forward.

Thank you for your continued support on the musical journey. You the people – are my Clear Channel, Radio One, mainstream gossip blogs and so on – and helping spread the word.
