“Jody Watley is a name in American music that is widely recognized, yet still not fully appreciated. Her ingenious, stylish videos and multi-threat talents raised the bar not just for dance music, but for women in the business – especially women of color”…Read the full feature: The Shadow League Music, Sports and Culture
“If 80’s funk was baseball I’d say Jody Watley hit a home run on this one.” AndresMusicTalk

Indeed some older fans are losing their minds..I’ve seen comments that me and SRL are a disgrace, sordid..as we proceed forward!
It’s amazing..no one was writing anything or talking about ‘Shalamar’ for decades and now people are up in arms as if this were 1980… people get so upset at the fact others like me are living their lives and making things happen – taking care of business. My group are not Shalamar, the connection is that of course I am an original member of that group (77-83) – though I do own the trademark as of 2014 (Open Letter). Our SRL group has it’s own mark and name and making noise – today not trying to recapture the past or take anyone’s memories away as I’ve stated. Shalamar Reloaded with a focus on new music, videos and dynamic contemporary stage shows. The past will always be there..that’s not what Nate, Rosero and I are doing. I took control of a situation and wise enough to use the leverage that I’ve built with my hit-making solo career to build this new entity and brand. It’s working much to the chagrin of some.
NEW feature on HiFi Magazine J Matthew Cobb: “Jody Watley has a new group — Shalamar Reloaded. And some old school seniors and original Shalamar members are trying to attack via socal media for going this route. Well, it’s not working. The girl is hitting ’em “right in the socket” courtesy of an explosive long-winded open letter published on her site. By the way, the slightly-controversial music video “The Mood” premiered at PerezHilton.com last week. And she’s reaching out to her gay fans and followers by headlining 46th Annual Atlanta Pride Festival this weekend. WHOA! ALL OF THIS is covered inside this exclusive post at HiFi Magazine. Happy readin’.#jodywatley #shalamar #shalamarreloaded #srl #music #randb #hifidelity#jmattspeaks “

I’m not generally an artist that gets hyped on views and that sort of thing..but I must say it’s a great feeling to see how quickly ‘Dancer’ has spread throughout Facebook – with over 200,000 views in 5 days. For a veteran artist..this must be some sort of record. The thing that made me happiest as well was the mother from Australia who’s 7 year old son Ollie or as he wants to be called “Bboy Elite” saw the video…and then watched over and over leading to him wanted her to film him dancing to the music of ‘Dancer’ so I could see it (watch it on my Facebook.com/JodyWatleyOfficial). That is what the song is about, the concept of the video – lose yourself – get IN the music.
