PRESS BLAST: January 9, 2014: On the heels of her funky hit single, “Nightlife” becoming a Top 5 Urban and Top 10 Commercial Pop hit in the UK and becoming her 19th Top 20 Hot Dance Club Play on Billboard since her solo debut in 1987; dance music legend and Grammy-winning pop icon, Jody Watley continues to master her career. Jody’s individuality and style in Dance and R&B music is reflected in her newly released video to her classic dance anthem. The “Queen of Cool” has, again, revived the good feel of music with the Dave Doyle video remix to “Nightlife” which paints a picture that evokes an uplifting emotion, with the spirit of the “nightlife” of people loving to dance, to feel the groove, and simply have fun.
“Nightlife” was shot on location at the hottest night spot in the country, Giorgio’s (named in a recent article by The NY Times as “The City of Dancing Angels”) on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles.
Filmed by Steve Willis with edit and motion graphics by Ray Easmon of the UK and Produced by Ray Easmon and Jody Watley; “Nightlife” features a cameo by Andy Warhol legend Joe Dallesandro, some of Los Angeles’ top freestyle dancers including The Waackers, choreographer Roseo McCoy (Britney Spears, Usher, etc), and famed Giorgio’s owner, Bryan Rabin recently profiled in the New York Times, and The Hollywood Reporter.
At last the much anticipated video for the hit single ‘Nightlife’ featuring Gerald Brown formerly of Shalamar set to the Dave Doyle Remix, directed by Steve Willis and edited by Ray Easmon will premiere more than likely on VIBE.com – stay tuned!

David Gest Presents Legends of Soul Tour:
I’m looking forward to not only performing my current hit single “Nightlife” and a few classics from my solo and Shalamar days as the original female lead in my short set as a part of David Gest Presents Legends of Soul but continuing to spread the word about my upcoming “Paradise” and other musical ventures on the horizon. To share the stage with acts that I grew up listening to (Dennis Edwards and The Temptations Review (Papa Was A Rolling Stone, Song For You..), Candi Staton (I dance to Young Hearts Run Free at Giorgio’s nearly every Saturday, Sheila Ferguson another original lead of the super group The Three Degrees). Gwen Dickey (Wishing On A Star) and I last crossed paths when she was a member of Rose Royce, and I a member of Shalamar. This is a personal honor for me – an adventure in an ongoing musical journey!

There are also quite a few fan made “Nightlife” videos to be found as well from various parts of the world.
At last we filmed the official video yesterday on the Sunset Strip and inside my favorite club on earth Bryan Rabin and Adam Xll present Giorgio’s – A Modern Discotheque. I’ve been writing about Girogio’s here on sharing on Facebook and Twitter for months now and so it seem fitting and authentic to film there. Much like my classic “Friends” video it’s eclectic, stylish and full of friends and real people having a fabulous time – and of course there was a lot of ‘waacking’ going on and a special touch of classic iconography by the the attendance of actor and Andy Warhol star Joe Dallesando and renowned hair stylist Teddy Antolin, pictured in black and white photo below.
“Nightlife” the official video is directed by Steven Willis with make-up by Billy B. More details soon! Most everyone has graciously donated their time for this out of love.
“NIGHTLIFE” is available at iTunes, Amazon, Beatport, Traxsource and other select outlets: Original single edit, Extended Glamour EP and Nightlife Remixed.
