Each venue and stage is different..and so as an artist you have to not only soundcheck but get the vibe and feel of the stage and venue. This is from Saturday night in Waukegan IL at the Genesee Theater on the bill with Lisa Lisa and Debbie Gibson.
You can’t just go through the motions and life even in rehearsal..be in the mindset of being the best. Often, especially for up and comers, how you practice is how you perform.
Jody Watley celebrating the 30th anniversary of Grammy nominated debut single “Looking For a New Love” and solo breakthrough Grammy winning debut release album on Good Day LA morning television.

Before rocking it, early morning Fox 11 Good Day LA (Joe Joe Grooves, John ‘Havic’ Gregory. Jody Watley, Rosero McCoy, Sir Charles)

Here’s a snippet of one of my performances with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra “Best Hits 80’s Meets Symphony..” singing one of my Top Ten hit singles “Everything.”
I wore a red suit and mock turtle neck from Theory as one who usually doesn’t wear the color and funked it up with street-style attitude with new red shades from a new line I stumbled across, nude Louboutin pumps and my signature jumbo hoops with added sparkle. Red in this case represents my passion for living and life..I’d had a custom tux made but it wasn’t ready in time..

Japan has always been a strong market for me since my solo debut. I look forward to going over next month, October for something new – this time Best Hits 80’s Meets Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra.

My arm wasn’t long enough to capture everyone onstage and the audience..the energy was electric. #selfie #stage #jodywatley
The atmosphere was electric. Thank you to Alan and Pacific Concert Group for another hot concert – Magic 92.5 for being a great sponsor and host and Valley View Casino Center. Thank you to the fans – such an enthusiastic audience!! These performances are brief and go by so fast – highlighting fan favorites classic hits, like ‘Don’t You Want Me’ – yes they do!
To my squad – Rosero McCoy who always makes sure the choreography and staging is fresh and on point, John ‘Havic’ Gregory, Eric McCoy, Michele ‘Soulchild’ Garman, Clarissa McElroy and Gene Tapia – you were all on fire! Special thanks as well to the behind the scenes staff Wallace Butts, Jason Howell.
