Albumism- Celebrating 20 Years of Jody Watley – Flower.

I still have so many thoughts on this experience, the disappointment, disillusionment I felt that lingered a couple of years while in limbo and reevaluating if my passion for the music and navigation of the business of it was over.. eventually the underground music scene in particular 4Hero’s Two Pages was a new awakening and inspiration for me as an artist, writer, producer and independent label owner. We grow through our disappointments, adversity, pain, heartbreak– it’s life.

Quentin Harrison is an excellent music writer, rare in the era we live. He does a great job on this retrospective and subsequent music aftermath.

Jody Watley ‘Paradise’: A Modern Disco Fusion

JodyWatley_Paradise_EP_CD_CoverArt

Jody Watley’s R&B has always been progressive and the arc of Paradise is no different from Watley’s past endeavors―somewhat. This time, Watley exchanges the electronically charged rhythm and blues from her last three records with a classic / contemporary fusion of disco.

Understand, this isn’t your little brother’s hipster disco, nor is it just a retroactive 70s redux. “PARADISE” melds elements of the aforementioned disco genre from today and yesterday. “ Quentin Harrison, QH Blend 2014

PoptasticConfessions

Much appreciation to Dave Higdon over at Poptastic Confessions for his ongoing support of my music, as well as Quentin Harrison and theqhblend. Where some blogs focus on dishing the gossip and the latest celebrity feuds or controversies, it’s always important to show love in return when the focus is solely on “the music.” Check the “NIGHTLIFE” posts: Poptastic Confessions and The QH Blend’s “Jody Watley from Soul Train to Nightlife”: HERE
