I was unable to attend unfortunately due to being sick for two weeks with Covid, and also still taking time to rest while mourning the passing of my Mom and handling her affairs, a video recording of my acceptance speech was playing. This is a very high honor for me to be recognized and in such as esteemed class of other women songwriters.

Inducted into Women Songwriters Hall Of Fame last night, though I couldn’t attend due tobeing under the weather it means the world to be recognized as a songwriter and knowing I’ve written many that are a part of the sound of peoples lives, crafting hooks that you can sing along to, and stories that resonate or have meaningful intent. Gospel royalty Keyondra Lockett accepted on my behalf after a rousing tribute performance of “It All Begins With You.”

Music Icon and Grammy Winning Artist Jody Watley is being inducted in the 2022 Women Songwriters Hall of Fame. Congratulations are in order.
Gospel royalty Keyondra Lockett will give a special tribute performance to Jody Watley Grammy Music Icon in Washington D.C – 8/27.
Watley’s songwriting catalog spans over 40 years and includes classic hits such as “Looking For A New Love” “Friends” featuring Eric B & Rakim, Don’t You Want Me and more. Watley was recognized by songwriting society BMI in 1991.

Iconic Female Hitmakers Including Jody Watley To Be Inducted In Summer 2022 Women Songwriters Hall Of Fame Ceremony

The Women Songwriters Hall of Fame Awards (WSHOF) returns to induct female iconic hitmakers!
WSHOF, founded to honor women whose body of work represents the best of the heritage and legacy of modern American music for the second year will pay homage to 10 noteworthy female songwriters on June 25, 2022.
The stellar event will take place at the opulent Bellevue Center, 43350 John Mosby Hwy in Chantilly, Virginia and will celebrate some of music’s finest songwriters and composers in a magnificent moment to mark their careers and their classics.
Music royalty and iconic singer Jody Watley will return as the emcee for the prestigious award ceremony. She is also amongst the esteemed honorees for this year’s event.
There will be a special performance by singer-songwriter Tayla Lynn, the granddaughter of Loretta Lynn with Tre Twitty.
“I am excited to host this wonderful ceremony again and also honored to be included as an honoree with my other esteemed songwriter peers,” says Watley.
WSHOF founded to honor women whose works represent American Music Heritage and legacy, promises a stellar event, celebrating some of music’s finest songwriters and composers, honoring their careers and their classics.

Jody Watley Hosts Inaugural Women Songwriters Hall of Fame In Washington, D.C.





The black tie inaugural event was held on June 25, 2021 at the elegant National Museum For Women In The Arts. It was a honor to be the first host and celebrate women songwriters often overlooked by the industry as well as the Songwriters Hall of Fame in it’s 20 years. Congratulations to the first group of honorees.
