Jody Watley Keeps It Moving With New DāM-FunK ‘EVERLASTING’ Remix

Grammy winning artist, singer, songwriter and producer Jody Watley keeps it moving with a new “EVERLASTING” remix. The final in the installment is The DāM-FunK Remix.

DāM-FunK is a critically acclaimed artist, musician, multi-instrumentalist, producer, DJ modern funk trailblazer. On top of that he’s a style icon who blends the music with the culture.

“EVERLASTING” The Alex Di Ció mix was released on January 30, 2024. The uplifting song ranked in the Top 5 in sales in various countries including the USA, UK and Italy via Watley’s longtime independent label Avitone and reached #2 on the UK Soul Charts.

An uplifting anthem about being true to oneself and perseverance another meaningful addition to her ongoing discography spanning multiple decades and genres.

Written and produced by Jody Watley with longtime collaborator, soul and jazz musician Rodney Lee, additional production by Italy’s renowned DJ/Remix producer Alex Di Ció another offering from Watley’s longtime independent label Avitone Recordings, established in 1995.

“EVERLASTING” The Remixes arrived to all streaming digital platforms April 19 with contributions by a variety of new and renowned DJ/ Remix Producers. The legendary Quentin Harris leads the charge with his BSF Re-Production, remixing the track with his signature musical touch. The “Everlasting” remix set also features an electro pop rework by French newcomer Slowz, a deep house favorite by NYC’s The Illustrious Blacks & Amara Jaguar ; a funky UK rave up by John “J-C” Carr and Gianpeiero XP’s anthemic Italo-house vibes. The remixes quickly vaulted to #2 on the iTunes Top Dance Albums Chart.

Making a guest vocal appearance on his outstanding “Invite The Light” on the high vibrations of “Virtuous Progression” from 2015 was special, I became a fan of his music with his heralded Stones Throw debut album ‘Toeachizown’ – he is the king of modern funk with timeless music sensibilities. On top of that he has a genuine deep respect for the music and funk genre.He’s a bit of a historian of R&B/Funk music as well. Jody Watley Honored with ‘Jody Watley Day’ in Houston for Contributions to Black Music

Dr. Jody Watley was honored with “Jody Watley Day” in Houston on June 30th. On the same day, she received several honors from the office of several state Houston representatives including the Black Music Honor from  Dr. Verna Caddie, President of Leaders Esteem Christian Bible University and her colleague Dr. Shonda Love backstage at concert in Dallas.

Watley said of the multiple proclamations after finishing her concert, “To be recognized for my influence, longevity and vital contributions to the music business is incredibly special to me. These are moments of recognition to never take for granted. I wasn’t expecting this today – what a nice surprise, so much gratitude!”

Jody Watley who is celebrating over 4 decades as a Grammy winning solo artist, was in town for the OldSchool FunkFest along with other legends of funk and soul Morris Day and The Time, Con Funk Shun, ZAPP and Midnight Star.

Grammy-winning music artist Jody Watley‘s latest release, “EVERLASTING: THE REMIXES,” is out today available at all digital music streaming platforms.

The legendary Quentin Harris leads the charge with his Black Stereo Faith re-production, remixing the track with his signature musical touch. The “Everlasting” remix e.p. also features an electro pop rework by French newcomer Slowz, an inspired deep house favorite by NYC’s The Illustrious Blacks & Amara Jaguar ; John “J-C” Carr reignites the tune as a funny rave-up alongside Gianpiero XP’s anthemic Italo-house re-imagining.

The original song has taken the music scene by storm, climbing to Number 2 on the UK Soul Charts and topping international playlists.

“EVERLASTING’ The Remixes features A&R by longtime colleague Bill Coleman of Peace Bisquit. The company is a multi-tiered, Brooklyn-based company incorporating artist and producer representation, A&R consultancy, film and television music supervision, sound design as well as being a record company.

Avitone Recordings (formed independently by Watley “Fueling Quality Music Since 1995”) adds this release to its ongoing output.

The original was written and produced by Watley with longtime collaborator – soul and jazz musician Rodney Lee. Additional production by Italy’s renowned DJ/Remix producer Alex Di Ció. “Everlasting” continues to garner support from taste making DJ’s around the globe and fans ranking the single Top 5 in sales in various countries including the USA, UK and Italy.

The Jody Watley Show Renewed For Second Season

The Jody Watley Show was launched by Sirius XM in March 2023 during Women’s History Month. The monthly broadcast is all about life experiences, insightful conversations framed by classic R&B from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.

The renewed second season was kicked off with special guest Robert ‘Kool’ Bell original founding member and bassist of legendary band Kool & The Gang.

The episode aired on Sunday April 14, 2024. Bell shared his thoughts on being on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the first time since forming the genre bending band in the 70’s and more including his new Le Kool Champagne venture. Kool & the Gang is an American R&B, soul, and funk, jazz band formed in Jersey City, New Jersey, in 1964.
