Travel vibes enroute to Austin, Texas.
It’s always special to be a part of Pride Events giving the LGBTQ community a day to celebrate who they are, being yourself, equality and love. The second time was the charm for Austin Pride – last year my performance was cancelled due to lightning storm and torrential rain.

Arrived safely, on way to hotel..comfy Mercedes Sprinter with talented dancers Kayla Simone and Jasmine Boyes. Wattage crew!
Morning Coffee. Tranquil morning, enjoying coffee and while looking up at the sky I thought of my song “Clouds” from “Midnight Lounge.” There are many messages and questions within the life song and changes we may go through and feel from time to time.
Many of us have naysayers and haters in our lives could be family relatives, so called friends, co-workers who don’t support you and don’t want to see you happy or succeeding. Wasting energy on someone else’s life. For public figures like me people hover not wishing you well, trolling your social media and so on, you ignore it but know it’s always there. Within my gratitude to continue to do what I love – the clouds moved along followed by the sun. That’s life. ‘In time dark clouds just fade away..’ we can’t have rainbows without clouds and rain.
I was inspired to do this short ‘morning voice’ a cappella. Imperfections make us who we are. ‘Midnight Lounge’ though not commercially successful – is the best reviewed album of my career and for me my best. Groovy, ambient and thought provoking. Check out the album on the digital service of your choice.
This might touch you in some way.. check it out.

“Hair done, nails done..” Wattage! It’s in the Music!
The primarily young crowd was receptive and showed a lot of love to all of the acts of the day – including for me, the veteran artist of the day. When I mentioned the Emmy nominated POSE and how two of my classic hits ‘Looking for A New Love’ (Season 1) and ‘Don’t You Want Me’ (Season 2 Episode 2 opening scene) had been featured, the kids the millennial kids definitely loved it and I was happy I’d included a short scene to intro “Don’t You Want Me.” I also performed “Nightlife” Moto Blanco Mix the from 2014 Nightlife Remixed EP – the lyrics ..’hair done, nails done, I’m gonna get my drag on..’ felt right, it’s a festive and fun song. We gave out a few signature Jody Watley hoop earrings toward the end as I began “Looking for A New Love.”
A fun time and day of togetherness was had by all. I can’t imagine life without music or equality for all people.
Love to all!
