It was nice to be in Illinois and have a break from the heatwave we were having in Los Angeles.
The concert at The Genesee Theater with Lisa Lisa and Debbie Gibson was billed as “Ladies of the 80’s” which I don’t see myself as at all with music still ongoing and a catalog that continues – 70’s (starting with Shalamar) 80’s, 90’s, 00’s, 10’s-I always say and stay timeless while understanding the appeal of certain themed marketing. A night of hits it was for sure by all of us.
The fans were very excited for the bill and the theater was packed. It was disappointing to learn via social media that a few of my fans missed my performance assuming I’d be last and were shocked that I came on first and had totally missed my short set. Always be early and you will never be late!
It was a fun night and my job was to get the party going – that’s what I did.
Soundcheck time. As a note this is not Jody Watley and SRL.. this was a total Jody Watley music short set.
It was lit! People love “Dancer” Cut Correct and Rhe Remix – even if they have never heard it – the reaction is always mega excitement – get IN the music and lose yourself.
Ready to rock! They don’t call me the “Queen of Cool” for nothing and I always come to slay.
Tonight’s show was with my drummer Kerry Griffin and the Lisa Lisa rhythm section to help with set changes and time. We were joined by two Chicago based dancers Joseph and Miguel – Rosero and Havic had them on point! Squad. Make it WerK!
Pop, Dance Funk Goddess and squad!
