There’s nothing like a Jody Watley concert / party – it’s an experience and exchange of positivity, love and good vibes mixed with tons of attitude, spontaneity, heart, soul, laughs, tears..music is life and paradise. Because I never work from a ‘script’ in what I say..in the moment of being moved by the audience and love..I did forget to dedicate my performance of “When A Man Loves A Woman” to Dr. Maya Angelou. My love of poetry and spoken word was very much influenced by her dating back to when I was in junior high, very much impacted by Angelou and Nikki Giovanni.
We’ve already been asked back for New Years Eve..stay tuned!

Pre-Show — in Vivienne Westwood T, blazer, my favorite hat from Gladys Tamez, glitter pumps by Jerome C. Rousseau, and grey sweat athletic sweat pants with zippers on side from Topshop.
Jody Watley and Leon Blue who I haven’t seen since Shalamar days (he was a stage tech back then – owns his own tour bus company now) flew in from Florida with his beautiful daughter.
With Paul who drove up from Las Vegas, I met him a couple of years ago when I did a special event at The Venetian / Palazzo.
Lovely lady and longtime fan at VIP Pre-Show Meet and Greet.
Love! Pre-Show VIP Meet and Greet at Yoshi’s.
Celebrating their 19th Anniversary of “Real Love” at Yoshi’s 2014
They hadn’t seen me since the 80’s! I welcomed them with open arms – and told them it’s OK, all that matters is you’re here tonight!
Pre-Show Meet and Greet – the line! I didn’t know how I would get to everyone, but I did.
Dave Higdon from Poptastic Confessions Blog, is always supportive and it was nice to meet him for the first time.
Tommy has such a wonderful spirit, and so generous. He always gives me a gift – this time a gorgeous crystal vase and flowers, which came with a thoughtful card and letter. The vase is home my ‘Sanctuary’ on the piano.
With one of my youngest and dearest fans Iona. Her Mom Yuko is loving and wonderful and flew in with Iona..we first met in Japan several years ago..so I’m getting to watch Iona grow up! She made me a keychain, and Mom brought cupcakes, and gifted me with one of my favorite things – a handheld fan.
So much love in this photo – among pictured friends Bryan Rabin of Giorgio’s in Los Angeles and make-up artist and Kathy Jeung who drove up from L.A. Glen Lajeski who was an executive at MCA and so instrumental in the early days of my solo career and another longtime friend along with his partner Benefit executive Gerry Etcheverry ..
..the fabulous night ended with Chicken and Waffles via an invitation from the owner Derrick and longtime friend of Rosero McCoy (choreographer/dancer) who hooked Wallace Butts from Avid Music Inc, John ‘Havic’ Gregory and Christina Grady and I up! I slept like a baby needless to say!
