I attended a smashing party this week presented by Harper’s Bazaar and MCM for Bravo Television’s upcoming new series “The Dukes Of Melrose”, starring Christos Garkinos and Cameron Silver of Decades Inc. A wonderful time was enjoyed by all! Festive music playlist, full bar and delicious hors d’oeuvres
I came out of my basic black and rocked a vibrant green tunic by Stella McCartney – going for an effortless chic vibe. I kept the make-up minimal with a slight smoky eye, lashes, bronzer on my cheeks and a hint of a NARS pale peach color (can’t read the name on the bottom..need a magnifying glass, lol). The studded black MCM clutch gave it the look a hint of edge, as well as a spiked bracelet – fashion forward. My pumps had a hint of orange for an additional burst of color. I almost chose to wear fuchsia pink pumps but really happy I went with the nude, orange and black combo.
I was so in love with my friend Christos Garkinos of Decades and his red Paul Smith suit. He’s so excited about the show as are all of his friends, clients and family many of whom were in attendance at the Sunset Tower in West Hollywood, California for the soiree and preview clips.
I don’t wear red lipstick much anymore, it made me feel too much like the old me from my early solo days – well that is until I recently tried the new NARS African Red. It’s perfect, not too bright with more of a blue undertone for a warmer appearance. The look: a classic strong brow (brow maintenance is a must) and cat-eye with black liner, which are two of my favorite beauty signatures and NARS Zen (blush) on my eyes; chic with just a touch of attitude! I pulled my hair back in a chignon – the rain gave it texture if you know what I mean.
I have a longstanding appreciation for classic Hollywood glamour since I was a little girl. Can we say Sophia Loren? There are so many women of that era whose style I admired even without realizing it as a little girl; and still do. A lot of my imagery has at different times been influenced by the classics.
Don’t be afraid to try new colors and products when you have to free time, or while browsing the aisles of your favorite beauty supply store or boutique. Have fun update your look – if you don’t like it just wash it off, it’s only make-up!
I snapped some pics for Instagram, just having fun on a rainy day this weekend – this is one.
My favorite lip color right now is NARS Rouge Tribal Lipgloss from the Larger Than Life Collection. Rouge Tribal can be used as a stain perfect for daytime or applied more heavily for a dramatic effect for evening. Perfect for fall 2012!
Sitting in the green room before going ‘live’ on CNN Sunday with Don Lemon to discuss Don Cornelius and Soul Train, a quick snapshot.
Pink continues to be on trend for Spring / Summer 2012. With a closet full of black – I’ve finally embraced the vibrant color wheel! The make-up is soft to compliment the look. I’m wearing my favorite NARS Falbala lipstick with MAC Viva Glam V gloss. The neutral toned or light tan colored glasses were spontaneous and gave the outfit a touch of individuality and fun. You’re never too old or too young to put your stamp on your personal style – my signature hoop earrings accentuate my look.
