This month was exciting with new developments as the single continues to build and be well received from the urban base which is where I chose to start the campaign. I completed a whirlwind and jam-packed press trip to New York. I was thrilled it coincided with my son’s birthday week and that we got to spend time together and celebrate his birthday while I was there – between his schedule for work and college.

In the UK “Nightlife” will enter the Music Week Urban Chart at #20 next week (charts are always a week out by date). I’m so happy about this! In the UK, we haven’t begun to go for chart positions on the commercial club end of things, though the single is getting a solid 8 out of 10 with DJ’s who continue to support it with club kids dancing to it. Things are boding well for the dance chart as well. In America, I’ve just hired Maxi-Promotion who my company has worked with on previous singles for “The Makeover” – to great dance floor and chart success. The single will officially go out to U.S. clubs next week. Though we live in a digital age and things seem to move quickly and at times they do, working records independently it’s all about continued word of mouth and building “Nightlife” organically. I’m in no rush as I’ve mentioned previously. This is not a corporate push where music tends to come and go at a rapid pace. It’s been the goal to work this single through years end into the start of 2014 and that’s what’s happening.

The remixes are scheduled for November 4. I must say, “Nightlife Remixed” is one of my favorite remix packages with stellar production from Moto Blanco, Jodie Harsh, Dave Doyle, Soulpersona and Luminodisco. There’s also a new bonus Soulpersona Classic Soul Phyllis Remix that I’m excited about that features Gerald “Take That To The Bank” Brown as a duet. It’s really the closet thing there’s been to a new Shalamar duet record with originals since 1978 – pretty monumental.   The remix is also my way of acknowledging one of music’s great female singers and production teams in the 70’s and 80’s (Reggie Lucas and James Mtume) they were the inspiration for the “Classic Soul Phyllis Remix.” My Yahoo Music interview should be going up any day now, as well as some of the other interviews I’ve done this month including Jet, Essence, Ebony, Eurweb, Hello Beautiful, Urban Daily, Hype Hair, Black Hair Sophisticates and more.

The “Nightlife” video is still being edited and pieced together as it’s not a typical video. I’ve had a few of my friends submit short clips of their “Nightlife” to be included as well.
